Writers “too busy” for ‘Gavin & Stacey’
Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008
According to Beth Hilton, Entertainment Reporter at digitalspy.co.uk, there is not going to be a new series of G & S next year.
Ruth Jones has admitted that she and James Corden are “too busy” to write a third series of Gavin & Stacey.
The pair are currently working on separate projects and cannot fit the BAFTA-winning comedy into their schedule.
Jones, who is shooting a BBC adaptation of Dickens novel Little Dorrit, is quoted as saying: “We’ve no plans for another series at the moment as it’s difficult for me and James to get together.”
However, she insisted that another run is a possibility, saying: “We’re not ruling it out but it would have to be a really good idea and a really good story.”
A Christmas special of the BBC Three sitcom will be filmed next month.
James Corden not sure about series 3 of Gavin and Stacey
Monday, August 18th, 2008“We won’t rule it out but we are working on a Christmas special now,” Corden told Take 5 magazine. “There has to be a story to tell. I think there is another life to the show but Ruth Jones and I don’t know what is after the special.”
Meanwhile, a US version of the BBC sitcom is currently being planned by the NBC network, and Corden is keen to find out who will play his character Smithy.
He revealed: “People from Sex and the City are working on the script and we can’t be too precious, but Philip Seymour Hoffman would be great.”

Gavin and Stacey USA, What’s Occurin’?
Monday, July 28th, 2008Acording to the Daily Record,
James admitted: “It would be lovely to know a bit more about it.
“If someone knows Ben Silverman (co-chairman of NBC), maybe they can call us and just say, ‘You know this show that we bought the format to? This is what we are doing to it.’ “We’d love to know because then we could tell you and think about money.”
Ruth added: “We’ve read several press reports that we’ve signed a £2million deal for this American version. I can categorically tell you, if you saw my car, you’d know that’s not true.
“It’s a lovely car. I’m very fond of it, but it’s not very new.”
Charlotte Church wants a bit of ‘Gavin & Stacey’ with Gavin
Wednesday, July 9th, 2008
OK! Magazine says, they would “die to be in [the show]“.
Charlotte said “Actually we need a new action hero – there’s never been a Welsh action hero, has there?”
“Maybe it could turn out that Nessa knows us from way back. We love it so much.”
“It would be brilliant. I would love to be an actor.” said Gavin Henson, the Welsh rugby international.
Who doesn’t want to be in series 3?
Gav to transfer to BBC1?
Monday, June 16th, 2008GAVIN and Stacey has been such a huge hit its hotly anticipated Christmas Special is set to air on BBC One, as opposed to BBC Three.
BBC Vision director Jana Bennett said at the Banff World Television Festival in Canada -where the Beeb was also honoured for shows such as Cranford, Top Gear and Extras – she’s keen to see the smash show transfer to the higher profile channel.
She said: “We removed it from the glare of ratings – playing the first two series on BBC3 – and it found a devoted following, averaging 1.6m on the digital channel.
“This year, I’d love to see the Christmas special play out on BBC1.
“To give you a sense of just how much artistic space we’ve given these new writer-performers – in the three years since they brought Gavin and Stacey to us there have been just nine emails between the BBC and its authors.
“Its story is similar to the way in which we have nurtured other new talent and new comedy – that most high risk and fragile of genres. The Office was allowed to grow in a very similar way on BBC2.
“It gives the slow burners room to breathe – shows that in the end may burn very bright indeed.”
Her comments also referred to the criticism of BBC Three, led by Jeremy Paxman and John Humphrys, who called for the youth channel to be axed to save cash.
Town plans Gavin and Stacey trail
Monday, May 19th, 2008The BBC is reporting that
Barry could be set to cash in on its newfound fame as the setting for award winning BBC TV comedy Gavin and Stacey.
a councillor, Rob Curtis, is trying to get the local council to invest in the trail and make a bit of money for Barry.
And as some of the Essex scences are also filmed nearby, like the pub, you can kill two birds with one stone.
Would you take the Gavin and Stacey Mystery Tour?
Spin offs?
Sunday, April 27th, 2008If they do end G&S ater the Christmas special, then the show is ripe for spin offs.
The obvious one would be “The Fishing Trip” or “Fishing with Bryn”.
Any other suggestions for spin offs?
No More Gavin and Stacey?
Monday, April 21st, 2008Just saw on TV Scoop that James Corden isn’t certain about the future of Gavin and Stacey after a one off Christmas special.
“We never intended to write a second series let alone a third,” said Jones. “We don’t want it to become predictable. We will see how the Christmas special goes and take it from there.” He also said: “We will write one if we can make it better. We have to be true to ourselves.”
I, for one, agree that I would prefer that they quit at the top of their game rather than stretch the idea too far and ruin the memories. But if Gavin and Stacey USA does appear, there will be plenty of future material.
What happens next?
Thursday, April 17th, 2008Lily Allen to star in ‘Gavin & Stacey’?
Friday, April 11th, 2008
Digital Spy hints that James Corden reportedly wants Lily Allen to guest star on his BBC Three show Gavin & Stacey.
We all saw James on Lily Allen and it’s obvious they are mental for each other.
A source told the Daily Star:
“James and Lily hit it off when he appeared on her show and they’ve got closer.
“He’s asked her if she wants to think about taking a part in his third series and she’s chuffed to bananas about it. I think James has a bit of a crush on her.”
a bit? not as much as she has on him I bet!!!
