Gavin And Stacey Series 3 – Interview with Alison Steadman

The third series of Gavin And Stacey is back on BBC One. Hurrah! Tell us about it. What’s new?

Great to be back but I’m not going to give too much away! Pam and Mick finally seem to accept that Barry isn’t such a bad place after all and pay a visit.

And what about Pam? What’s been happening in her life?

Pammy’s always busy and her latest thing is entering Britain’s Got Talent.

How is Pam coping without her little Prince?

Pam misses her little Prince every day and would love to have him back home or at least living round the corner.

Any chance Pam and Mick would move to Wales?

Pam and Mick would never move to Wales.

How do you feel about this series being the last ever one? Was it more exciting or emotional to film?

I still can’t believe this is the last series. It was on my mind most of the time and the final day was really emotional. It feels a real loss.

Can you tell us any funny stories from filming?

When I’d finished filming I had a day off before the wrap party so I stayed in Wales and did some sightseeing. In the middle of the day I got a photo text from our director Chris Gernon who’d fallen over in the mud while filming and was forced to change into Pammy’s black jeans for the rest of the day!

What is your favourite bit from the new series?

I loved Neil’s christening scene. It’s funny and very moving as well. My least favourite bit for Pammy is when she covers her face in a green facepack. When I saw myself I looked straight out of a cheap horror movie!

Pam seems to have a bit of a maternal soft spot for Smithy. Would you like to see him and Nessa get together?

Pammy loves Smithy and would do anything for him. She just wants him to be happy. He is like a second son to her.

What would you like to think Pam is doing in 10 years’ time?

She’ll be having her grandchildren to stay and spoiling them like mad (I hope).

Now Gavin And Stacey is finished, what’s next?

I want to do more theatre as well as television. I’ll be touring Alan Bennett’s play Enjoy in the early spring.

The third series of Gavin And Stacey is back on BBC One. Hurrah! Tell us about it. What’s new?

Sadness. Surreal comedy. Sexiness. A sublimely sentimental yet supremely poignant ending.

And what about Mick? What’s been happening in his life?

More of the same. Still nice old Mick.

The house must feel empty now Gavin and Stacey have moved back to Wales. How is Pam coping without her little Prince?

Driving Mick stone ravin’ bonkers.

Any chance you and Pam would move to Wales?

As much chance as being kicked to death by a three-legged camel on the end of Southend pier.

How do you feel about this series being the last ever one? Was it more exciting or emotional to film?

Absolutely – if that were possible.

Can you tell us any funny stories from filming?

Ask Pam. She’s much better at all that.

What is your favourite bit from the new series?

The scene just before the very end, but I can’t tell you because it’ll give it away.

We hear that Dawn and Pete renew their wedding vows – will Mick and Pam be doing the same?

They do it every day anyway.

Nessa seems to kiss Mick any chance she gets. Ever been tempted?

Speaking on behalf of Mr Shipman I would definitely like to respond in the affirmative (only joking, Clare and David).

What would you like to think Mick is doing in 10 years’ time?

More of the same.

Apart from EastEnders, now Gavin And Stacey is finished, what’s next?

I’m doing a TV show about fathers and sons with George my son and then I’m going on the road with my one-man show.

Gavin and Stacey Deries 3 – Interview with with Rob Brydon

The third series of Gavin And Stacey is back on BBC One. Hurrah! Tell us about it. What’s new?

Nessa and Dave are living in Dave’s caravan; Gavin’s working in Cardiff and Bryn’s delighted.

It must be nice having Gavin and Stacey living back in Barry. Uncle Bryn seems to have quite a soft spot for Gavin…

I think he’s thrilled to have Gavin living across the road.

How do you feel about this series being the last ever one? Was it more exciting or emotional to film?

It was lovely to see everyone again. We were filming in the summer, which was unusual for us; we usually shoot up to Christmas so it was a different atmosphere in as much as the weather was nice. I felt a little sad, though, knowing that this was the last series.

Who will you miss working with the most?

I suppose I’d have to say Ruth, we’ve known each other for years and it’s been lovely working so closely with her on the show and the spin-offs like the record for Comic Relief.

In one of the episodes we hear Bryn joins Gavin and Smithy for a lad’s night out. Can you tell us about it?

Bryn goes out into Cardiff with the boys and tries to keep up with their pace. It doesn’t go quite to plan.

Must have been fun having all the boys stay over?

Yes it must…

What is your favourite bit from the new series?

I haven’t seen it but I loved Dawn and Pete renewing their vows.

We loved loved loved Uncle Bryn’s version of the James Blunt classic. Any plans to sing in this series?

Maybe. Be sure to watch the first episode!

What would you like to think Uncle Bryn is doing in 10 years’ time?

The same as he’s doing now, but slower.

Now Gavin And Stacey is finished, what’s next?

I’m on tour.

Please put us all out of our misery. Do we find out what happens on that fishing trip?

Your misery shall continue…

Series 3 of Gavin and Stacey, When does it start?

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

Series 2 began in May 2008, so we are beginning to wonder when the show is going to begin again?

Quite frankly, we don’t know.

But lets look at the evidence…

Filming is complete, and there has been plenty of time for post production already.  That suggests pretty soon.

The DVD of series three will be released on 23 November, so episode 6 will have to be shown before that. UPDATE: This now says Dec 7, and I would not be surprised to see it change again.

So if we assume that the last episode will be shown the week beginning 16 November, and we know that there are 6 episodes, that would mean that episode 1 would be shown in the w/b 12 October.

So that is our prediction, can you do better?

Now the next question is BBC One, Two or Three? UPDATE: BBC Press Offfice says BBC One

Gavin and Stacey Series 3 starts this Autumn

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

With four British Comedy Awards, two Baftas and a South Bank award to its name, Gavin & Stacey returns for a new series on BBC One.

As Gavin starts his new job, the move to Barry Island means big changes for the whole family. Pam and Mick have to adjust to an empty nest while Gwen’s got a full house again. Stacey is in her element, but will this finally be the solution to the couple’s long-distance problem? And how will Gavin take to living in Wales?

Smithy questions their friendship along with his own role as father – and with Dave Coaches on the scene and now engaged to Nessa, will Smithy find himself pushed out of the frame? How will life in a caravan work out for Nessa and her soon-to-be husband Dave?

Written by James Corden and Ruth Jones, Gavin & Stacey stars Mathew Horne, Joanna Page, Ruth Jones and James Corden, with Alison Steadman, Rob Brydon, Larry Lamb and Melanie Walters. Guest stars include Julia Davis, Adrian Scarborough, Steffan Rhodri and Sheridan Smith.

Gavin And Stacey: Corden Says No More

According to Sky News

The next series of Gavin and Stacey will be the last ever, according to the show’s creator, James Corden.

The comedy actor told Sky News’ Steve Hargrave that he is currently writing the third series with co-star Ruth Jones but said: “This is it. This will definitely be the last series. We have a point to which we are working to and that will be the end.

“It will be sad but it has been a great time for everyone involved”.

The final series will begin shooting in the Summer.

“The pressure is on” Ruth Jones for Gavin and Stacey 3

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

“Part of me is waiting to disappoint – that’s probably the Welsh pessimism in me.”

This was Ruth Jones feelings at the Royal Court’s Young Writers Festival.

“We only have a short space of time to write it so the pressure is on,” she said. “People have been so lovely and kind about the series but I can’t help thinking nothing lasts forever.

We understand that she expects the scripts to be finished in March, which would suggest that series 3 would follow in the summer or autumn.

“It’s a good thing to know where you’re heading to, and knowing the characters so well makes it somewhat easier. It’s a really enjoyable process.”

We say, take your time, enjoy it and deliver when it’s ready.
