James Corden told the Sun “Philip Seymour Hoffman would be an amazing Smithy,”

“I’d love that. I can’t wait to see the US show. Getting it started was delayed by their writers’ strike but it’s back on course now.”

If they do end G&S ater the Christmas special, then the show is ripe for spin offs.
The obvious one would be “The Fishing Trip” or “Fishing with Bryn”.
Any other suggestions for spin offs?

Just saw on TV Scoop that James Corden isn’t certain about the future of Gavin and Stacey after a one off Christmas special.
“We never intended to write a second series let alone a third,” said Jones. “We don’t want it to become predictable. We will see how the Christmas special goes and take it from there.” He also said: “We will write one if we can make it better. We have to be true to ourselves.”
I, for one, agree that I would prefer that they quit at the top of their game rather than stretch the idea too far and ruin the memories. But if Gavin and Stacey USA does appear, there will be plenty of future material.

Digital Spy hints that James Corden reportedly wants Lily Allen to guest star on his BBC Three show Gavin & Stacey.
We all saw James on Lily Allen and it’s obvious they are mental for each other.
A source told the Daily Star:
“James and Lily hit it off when he appeared on her show and they’ve got closer.
“He’s asked her if she wants to think about taking a part in his third series and she’s chuffed to bananas about it. I think James has a bit of a crush on her.”
a bit? not as much as she has on him I bet!!!

I hour of Gaving and Stacey bliss later and I think we all agree that this second series looks even better than the first, and the reviews agree;
The Times “This comedy is less mild than it looks and even funnier than I remembered”
The Guardian”The two episodes were the fifth- and sixth-best rated shows on BBC3 since it launched five years ago”
TV Scoop”if the performances stay this strong … their show can only go from strength to strength“

Ruth Jones is sanguine about the impact of Gavin and Stacey. The comedy series, which Jones co-wrote and appeared in, about a whirlwind romance between a sweet Welsh girl from Barry and a nice Essex boy from Billericay, may recently have won two British Comedy awards and a South Bank Show award.
But the fact that it was shown on BBC3 meant that, after its first outing, most people didn’t know Gavin and Stacey from Adam and Eve.
“I kind of feel that the show doesn’t exclude anyone,” says Jones’s co-writer James Corden, “and that people up and down the country could watch it.”
But then, as he ruefully admits: “A lot of them haven’t.” However, a week ago, Corden’s dream of mass exposure came true.
